About Me:
Hope. Is there another four-letter word that is meant to inspire? I cannot think of one. Nor do the other four letter words have as much impact on a human life. When everything else has disappeared in the rear view mirror, this remains. It may change seats frequently; bouncing happily in shot gun position as you coast down the open road, or cowering in the back seat as you traverse mountainous hairpin curves. Yet, never does it demand to be let out, leaving you to the vagaries of life without support.
There may, probably will, be times in your life when you can't find it amid the clutter left behind from your numerous road trips. You might even find yourself frantically digging through the clipped articles that headline your life and wrappers from the moments you found solace in snacking on quick fixes and idols.
At this point, you have two options. If your schedule is tight, you might simply head on down your road using faith to help. Faith will continue to assure you that hope is still in the vehicle and will peek its head out when it feels safe again. You might also ask a friend to ride with you. Her hope will burrow through the clutter as you travel until it finds your hope and yours will come out, holding tightly to your friend's hope. From there you allow the hope of others to hold your own until the clutter of fear and uncertainty can be cleaned away. Once this is accomplished, your hope beomes a free spirit once more. In fact, you may even discover it to be slightly giddy; putting its feet up on the dashboard or playing silly games with those you pass as you travel.
Now that your own hope has been recovered and feels strong, it is time for you to find a fellow traveler whose own vehicle is cluttered with the remnants of a difficult journey. Offer to go with him and give your support as your hope burrows for his. You may discover your friend is not heading in the direction you had mapped out before you started. That's okay, it's likely to be a direction he had not planned as well. This is where you find your personal GPS system tested. Trust it and take some time to enjoy the scenery as you ride along. For, while many things in life remain uncertain, one thing is for sure. You will not pass this way again and many of life's lessons are only taught once.
Light at the End of the Tunnel
I'm sure I see it.
I hope you do.
The faint glow in the
distance
Beckoning us toward
it.
Take my hand,
And I'll take yours.
Together we'll go;
Tentatively, at
first,
Then, with more
confidence.
Moving closer,
The glow becomes
A rich, warm light,
Hope is there,
Reaching out to show
us
The light at the end
of the tunnel.
